God as flesh.

In this human body, Jesus Christ expressed the attributes of God in human virtues so that He could say:

"Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?" John 14:9

He put Him on display – in humanity.

This is a mystery that is so profound to think about. Paul says that the mystery of Godliness is Great:

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." 1 Ti 3:16

God was manifested in the flesh.

This was a great mystery, especially to angels. Before the incarnation, they knew the Son of God as the creator of all things.  They knew Him as the One that dwelt in unapproachable light, in glory and majesty. They were His ministers and knew they had been fashioned by  Him. They knew his Power and His Majesty and His glory.

But in incarnation, He became a man and exhibited a whole new set of virtues that they had never seen in God.  Lowliness, meekness, mercy, weeping, compassion, tenderheartedness, intimacy, love, service, suffering, and forbearance was all on display in this man who walked everywhere with His friends and disciples.

Then in His death, He exhibited complete surrender, obedience, and weakness. They even watched Him endure mocking, spitting, scourging, and finally death of the cross.
