Dead to sin.

He crucified me with Him, and His death was a death to sin once for all.

"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Rom 6:6
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh." Rom 8:1-3
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Romans 8:11
"Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom 6:9-11

I need to grasp that I died with Christ to sin, but I also need to grasp that I died with Christ to any demand from God. The demand has been rolled off me. Christ has become my life. I am crucified with Christ. I died to sin, and I also died to the Law. For I through the Law am dead to the Law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

"For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God." Gal 2:19

This is the “Formula.” That’s how I received Him in the beginning. That’s how I continue in Him.  That’s how “sanctification” or “renewal” works. When I understand this, I’m liberated from the Spirit of bondage, fear, condemnation, and the sense of debt.

"Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." Rom 8:12-15
