The Gospel and Our Inheritance in Christ
Christ’s Inheritance
Christ’s inheritance is the promises made to the fathers. As the Seed to whom the promises were made, Christ righteously inherits the promises on our behalf. He is our representative who secures the inheritance for us. (Galatians 3:16, Hebrews 9:15, Ephesians 1:14)
The Focus of the Gospel
The Gospel is all about Christ and his role in securing our salvation and inheritance. Christ dealt with our sin to qualify us to share in the inheritance. (Romans 3:23-24)
Fulfilling God’s Purpose
God’s salvation is about fulfilling his purpose. It is to produce many sons in glory who are conformed to the image of his firstborn Son, form the Bride as his companion, and form the Body as his Fulness. These are people who were known by God from eternity past, and the entire universe was created so that they could be manifested. (Romans 8:29, Revelation 19:7-9, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 1:4, Romans 8:19)
As we embrace Christ and his role in our salvation (by believing the Gospel, we become part of God’s purpose and the fulfillment of his promises.
