We are different than angels in this respect because our spirit is joined to the Lord who is the Spirit.
"And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." 1 Corinthians 15:45
"But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." 1 Cor 6:17
That’s why, speaking of His resurrection, Jesus could say “in that day you will know that I am in My Father and My Father is in Me, and I in you and you in Me.
"At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." John 14:20
Many believed on Jesus because of the miracles He did but He didn’t entrust Himself to any men because He knew what was in man.
"And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man." John 2:25
Through regeneration, we were brought into union with the Triune God. This is how Christ comes to dwell in us, and it is through our spirit that we know Him, by faith.
