“The Simple Truth of Assurance”

Have you ever been confused or unsure about your salvation? Do you wonder if you have done enough to earn eternal life? Well, let me tell you the good news: you don’t have to be unsure or worried anymore!

The Bible teaches that salvation is a free gift from God. You don’t have to work for it, you don’t have to earn it, you just have to believe in Jesus Christ. He is the only way to be saved, and all you have to do is trust in Him.

1 John 5:13 says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” Notice that it doesn’t say “so that you may be 99% sure” or “so that you may hope you have eternal life.” It says that you may know. You can be 100% sure that you have eternal life if you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior.

So, what does it mean to trust in Jesus Christ? It means that you believe in the gospel, the good news about Jesus. The gospel is this: that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. If you believe that, if you trust in that finished work of Jesus Christ, then you are saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
You don’t have to do anything else to be saved. You don’t have to confess your sins to a priest, you don’t have to be baptized, you don’t have to remain faithful, you don’t have to maintain your salvation. All of those things are for spiritual growth and obedience, but they are not requirements for salvation. Salvation is a free gift, and all you have to do is receive it by faith.

If you have never trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior, I encourage you to do so today. Simply believe in Him, trust in His finished work, and receive the free gift of eternal life. If you have already trusted in Him, then rejoice and be confident in your salvation. You have eternal life, and nothing can ever take it away from you.
