Even though Jennifer Britt is attempting to direct attention away from the argument itself with “ad hominem” attacks on Gregg and myself, she did bring up a point that Gregg has provided a hebrew word for Heart that encompasses mind, and we should cover it from the New Testament Greek.
As I said in my video (see at the bottom of this page), while we do believe in our heart, the heart encompasses the mind, will, emotions, and the conscience. Here are some examples of the Greek word “kardia” referring to each of these faculties:
Thoughts and Intentions: Heb_4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Understanding: joh_12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Emotions:2Co_2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
Conscience: Act_2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Will: 2Co_9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver
Many other scriptures can be used to illustrate that the heart encompasses the functions of the Soul (mind/will/emotions) + the conscience (Which is actually part of the spirit).
While the Scripture does tell us that we believe in our hearts, much of the emphasis has to do with the mind.
Luk 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, Luk 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
The word understanding here refers to the intellect:

The understanding is connected to the heart in passages like this:
Joh 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
The understanding is a function of the mind, but is associated with the heart. In the scripture we see that the mind is a primary place where the Enemy attacks to blind people’s ability to understand/believe the gospel. For example:
2Co 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
On the one hand, in the above passage, the minds are blinded and there is a vail that is upon them when reading the old testament. This vail is done away with in Christ, and verse 15 tells us that the vail is on their heart. Can you see how the mind and the heart function together so that the veil over the mind is the veil over the heart?
2Co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Here we see that the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the mind of those that believe not. If the heart is different than the mind, and we need to believe with our heart (but not our mind), why would Satan waste time “blinding the mind” and not just blinding the heart?
Meanwhile, “repentance”, which most people WRONGLY association with an act of contrition (in the heart!) is actually the greek word, Metanoia, “change of mind.”
So Jennifer, is this just “wizardry” and Satan’s trickery or are you able to substantiate your assertion that the heart and mind are separate from the scriptures and use that to say that someone who believes the gospel correctly only does so with their “mind” and not with their “heart?” Clear away the weeds of your accusations and respond with the SCRIPTURES. Thats the way noble MINDED people handle truth and error. If we’re wrong, show us from the scriptures.
